THQ Nordic Unveils Exciting Co-op South Park Game: "South Park: Snow Day"
A new cooperative gaming experience set in the South Park universe is on the horizon. THQ Nordic has announced "South Park: Snow Day", a multiplayer action-packed game for up to four players in full 3D. Scheduled for release in 2024 on both PC and consoles, this game has been eagerly anticipated since it was teased nearly a year ago by the Austrian publisher.
The initial hint about this upcoming South Park game surfaced in an unusually candid job listing in early 2022, revealing not only the project's existence but also hinting at multiplayer features. The listing's insights have proven to be accurate, as demonstrated by the newly unveiled South Park: Snow Day.

The game's reveal trailer premiered during the 2023 THQ Nordic Showcase. The minute-long promo begins with Cartman delivering an impassioned speech about the magical nature of a snow day in a young child's life. This scene takes place in front of Jimbo's Guns, a recurring location in the South Park TV series and previously seen in Ubisoft's South Park RPGs, "The Stick of Truth" and "The Fractured But Whole".
Following Cartman's speech, the trailer showcases about 20 seconds of gameplay footage featuring a chaotic brawl in the aftermath of a snowstorm within a town square. This clip aligns with THQ Nordic's description of "South Park: Snow Day" as a cooperative game for up to four players. It features characters like Cartman, Kyle, Stan and Kenny, battling waves of middle schoolers in what appears to be a player-versus-environment (PvE) encounter.
Unlike Ubisoft's acclaimed South Park RPGs, "Snow Day" takes a different visual approach, opting for 3D graphics while still capturing South Park's simple aesthetic in character designs. The title alludes to snowball fights, but the combat in the trailer is more intense, incorporating a range of melee weapons, fireballs, and creative traversal options such as a snow shovel repurposed into a character catapult.
The game's development is being handled by Question Games, a Tiburon, California-based company best known for its unique 2015 sandbox experience, "The Magic Circle". This aligns with previous leaks from January 2022. South Park Digital Studios is also contributing to the development of "South Park: Snow Day". Although the game lacks a precise release date, its targeted 2024 launch and snowy theme suggest that THQ Nordic may be aiming for a holiday season release.
