As a live-service game, Fortnite frequently releases new content, often partnering with notable franchises to introduce themed cosmetic items for players. Over the years, Fortnite has collaborated with various IPs, adding skins inspired by characters such as Solid Snake from Metal Gear, Magneto from X-Men, and Kratos from God of War. Recently, new concept art surfaced online, revealing what the canceled Fortnite/Die Hard crossover might have looked like.
According to leaked images shared by insider iFireMonkey, developer Epic Games had been working on several Fortnite skin concepts, including one based on Die Hard's protagonist, John McClane. The designs closely resemble Bruce Willis, the actor who portrayed McClane. The concept images depict four different versions of McClane, reflecting his looks from the 1988 film. True to the movie's aesthetic, he is shown wearing a white tank top, a black tank top, shirtless, and shirtless with bandages on his back. In all versions, McClane wields a red ax and is barefoot.
Leaked Fortnite Concepts Reveal Additional Early Character Skins
In addition to the John McClane skin, the leak includes concept art for various other popular characters. This collection features characters from well-known franchises like Family Guy, Alien, and Predator. While characters from these IPs eventually made it into the game, notable differences between the early concepts and their final appearances can be seen. Interestingly, the leak also reveals that the battle royale game was initially set to feature a fat Peter Griffin skin – mirroring his appearance in the show – instead of the muscular version introduced earlier this year.
Although it seems unlikely that Die Hard's John McClane will be joining Fortnite anytime soon, other highly anticipated characters are expected to arrive in the game soon. Recent developments hint that a pair of MCU superheroes may receive their own Fortnite skins in the coming weeks. Given that several Marvel characters have already appeared in the game, this would provide fans with another opportunity to expand their superhero skin collection.
