Looking at the Meta: Is it Changing?
Just a little while ago, we saw Warrior decks dominating Tier 1 and Tier 2. Be it Tempo, Control, Pirate or Patron, they were everywhere. While the last two have dropped back down to lower tiers, Control and Tempo still walks all over everything else. Interestingly enough, we haven’t seen any decks featuring the Old Gods since the week the expansion came out, being N’Zoth Paladin. The problem with them is the lack of being able to deal with both control heavy Warriors and face – rushing Shamans and Warlocks at the same time. As of right now, Control Warrior is the only deck we have found that is able to effectively clean up an early game rush and still have the deck space left for some late game powerhouses, using things like weapons and anti-aggro techniques like Shield Block and Armorsmith.
Unfortunately for Control Warrior, it is likely they may fall from their throne soon. Due to its rise in popularity, many players have begun to favor Midrange style decks over pure aggro, like Midrange or Totem Shaman. Because of this, it is unlikely Control Warrior will maintain its hold on the Meta for much longer, but expect Tempo Warrior to only rise, as it seems to perform well against Midrange decks.

Overall, we’re still looking at least at a semi – Warrior dominated Meta, with or without Control. Midrange decks should start to replace Aggro in top tier, but I wouldn’t expect that to last. If less people run Control Warrior and instead prefer Tempo, Aggro will only see another rise in popularity. The scales have balanced, if only for a moment.
