Lost Legends: The Walking Dead's Michonne Almost Joined Mortal Kombat 1's Epic Roster Clash!
Ed Boon, the creator of the Mortal Kombat series, recently revealed that a popular character from The Walking Dead could have been part of Mortal Kombat 1's guest roster. This potential addition would have joined the ranks of other guest characters like Homelander, Omni-Man, and Peacemaker in Mortal Kombat 1.
While the initial fan reception to the revealed guest characters for Mortal Kombat 1 was positive, sentiments toward the complete roster have been somewhat mixed. Established characters like Jax Briggs, Sonya Blade, and Goro have been relegated to Kameo Fighters, relying on modders to make them fully playable characters.

However, the disappointment for long-time fans may have been lessened by the inclusion of a planned guest character that never materialized. Ed Boon shared on Twitter that before settling on Omni-Man, he had discussed the possibility of including Michonne with The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman.
The potential addition of Michonne to Mortal Kombat 1's roster received positive feedback from fans, with many expressing that it would have brought much-needed diversity to a guest roster dominated by relatively niche superheroes. Despite the success of franchises like The Boys, Invincible, and Steven Gunn's Suicide Squad, they are not as widely recognized as household names. Nevertheless, Michonne's inclusion may not have significantly affected Mortal Kombat 1's player base, which continues to contend with Mortal Kombat 11 due to post-launch issues and perceived content gaps.
Even though Michonne didn't make it into Mortal Kombat 1, the character has made appearances in various video games outside of Telltale's rendition of the zombie comic. Players interested in experiencing Michonne's survival skills and combat abilities in a video game setting can explore titles such as 7 Days to Die, Fortnite, Brawlhalla, and PUBG Mobile.
Considering how Namco successfully introduced Negan into Tekken 7's roster, some argue that the character could have fit well in Mortal Kombat 1. The missed opportunity to bring together the brutality and violence of Mortal Kombat and The Walking Dead is regrettable, but the existing roster still offers players a diverse array of choices.
