Minecraft Snapshot Fixes 14-Year-Old Bug and Reintroduces Bundles in Latest Update

Before the release of snapshot 24w33a, the debug menu displayed an unused B value that constantly showed the number zero, leaving players puzzled about its purpose.

Snapshot 24w33a does more than just clean up the debug menu—it also reintroduces bundles, a feature first tested in 2020 but never fully released. Players eager to try out the new bundles need to be on the latest snapshot and enable the feature through the in-game settings. Once activated, bundles allow players to stack different blocks or items in the same inventory slot, functioning similarly to popular backpack mods.

While many Minecraft players are enjoying the new features, like building rollercoasters, others have noticed the improved debug menu after Mojang Studios finally removed the mysterious B value. On Reddit, user Ok_Thing7750 pointed out that since 2010, the debug menu, accessible by pressing F3, displayed a B counter stuck at zero. Thanks to the latest snapshot, that confusing line of text is now gone.

Minecraft Finally Removes Unused Debug Menu Line

The exact purpose of Minecraft's B value remains unclear, but Reddit user nablyblab speculated that it was intended to show the number of entities loaded but not visible on screen. The Minecraft wiki suggests a similar idea, indicating that the B value might have been for tracking entities removed due to hidden chunks, but it became redundant and was meant to be removed.

The latest Minecraft update is still in the testing phase, but it will eventually roll out to all supported platforms, bringing new features and improvements to Minecarts, Redstone, and more.
