The game developer behind Ori, Moon Studios, has announced an action RPG titled "No Rest for the Wicked"
The game's trailer, which can be viewed below, premiered during The Game Awards on Thursday.
The game will release in Early Access on PC (via Steam) in the first quarter of 2024, followed by a full version release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC later. Private Division claims that the game is poised to redefine the genre.
They note, "Exploring the intricate and vast island of Isola Sacra allows players to experience a verticality unlike other action RPGs: from the depths of crypts to lush forests and treacherous mountain passes."
Kostenlose Edelsteine, sowie tägliche, wöchentliche und monatliche Boosts!
"Each location on the island houses complex characters with their own problems, hidden treasures, ferocious creatures, and mysteries to unravel."
"The combat system in No Rest for the Wicked is designed to be rigid and organic, enabling players to combine strikes and deadly maneuvers."
"This innovative combat system provides a unique gaming experience, distinguishing itself from other isometric action RPGs by requiring skill and precision rather than simple 'button-mashing.'"
The multiplayer mode will allow players to engage in online co-op with up to three friends, sharing their world and progress.
Moon Studios was founded in 2010 by CEO and Creative Director Thomas Mahler (a former cinematic artist at Blizzard Entertainment) and Technology and Production Director Gennadiy Korol (a former senior graphics engineer at Animation Lab).
No Rest for the Wicked will be the studio's third game after Ori and the Blind Forest in 2015 and Ori and the Will of the Wisps in 2020.
"We've dreamed of contributing to the action RPG genre that we all grew up loving," said Mahler. "After the success of Ori, it was evident that Moon was now mature enough to realize those dreams. We can't wait to see players' reactions to this entirely new take on the genre."
"For the past six years, we've been dedicated to our passion project—a next-level action RPG fueled by our love and ambition for tight gameplay mechanics and world-building," added Korol. "We're excited to unveil our vision of the core tenets of this genre and to reimagine elements ripe for innovation."
