The release of the Fallout 4 update with enhanced 4K graphics for 'next-gen platforms' is delayed until 2024
In 2022, an updated version of Fallout 4 with 4K resolution capability was announced to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the original Fallout game. The good news is that work on the project is ongoing, but the downside is that the release has been pushed to 2024.
The updated version of Fallout 4 for PC, Xbox Series X-S, and PlayStation 5 promises enhanced performance for high frame rates, quality 4K graphics, bug fixes, and additional content from the Creation Club. Initially expected in 2023, considering the game's age of 7 years, a swift release was anticipated. However, Bethesda adheres to its own schedule, much like with The Elder Scrolls 6, where the pace of work isn't always rapid.

Bethesda, through the official Fallout Twitter account, expressed gratitude for the patience and confirmed that work on the update is ongoing. "We know you're eager for this just as much as we are! We just need a little more time, and we're looking forward to returning to the Commonwealth in 2024."
Though disappointing for fans, many believe it's better to wait than to rush. Despite the lack of a specific release date other than a general "sometime next year," it's reassuring that Bethesda acknowledges the update is still in development. Some speculate it might coincide with the planned debut of the Fallout series on April 12, 2024, potentially boosting sales, similar to the effect seen with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
It might seem cynical, but given the limited information available, it's not as bad as it may appear. It would be great to receive more precise details about the release date of the Fallout 4 update for the new platforms (although whether they should be considered a "new generation" for consoles is debatable). If I receive a response from Bethesda, I'll certainly share the information.
