World of Warcraft Player Hits the Jackpot: Obtains Both Mimiron's Head and Invincible on the Same Day
A World of Warcraft player recently experienced an extraordinary stroke of luck, managing to acquire both Mimiron's Head and Invincible mounts on the same day. Since the release of The Burning Crusade, the culture surrounding mounts in World of Warcraft has increasingly focused on the acquisition of prestige mounts, which are typically rare drops from raids. Prior to the opening of the Dark Portal, mounts like the Swift Zulian Tiger or Deathcharger's Reins were considered prestigious, but the Ashes of Al'ar from Tempest Keep quickly became the gold standard for rare mounts.

This trend continued with the release of Wrath of the Lich King, when Blizzard introduced Mimiron's Head in Ulduar and Invincible in Icecrown Citadel. At that time, these rare mounts could only be obtained by defeating the final boss of their respective raids on the highest difficulty setting. When Cataclysm launched in 2010, the drop rate for these mounts was drastically reduced to around 1%, making them even more coveted than the Ashes of Al'ar. For years, players have been farming for Mimiron's Head and Invincible, but the weekly raid lockout system meant they had only one chance per week to obtain these mounts.
The fact that a player known as "ickyys" managed to obtain both mounts on the same day is truly remarkable. The player shared a screenshot of their World of Warcraft achievements as proof, showing that they looted both Mimiron's Head and Invincible on August 19, 2024. To add to this incredible luck, ickyys also obtained the extremely rare Chromatic Sword shortly afterward. While farming Icecrown Citadel and Ulduar has become much easier over time, this does not diminish the extraordinary luck involved in ickyys' achievement.
Though World of Warcraft has introduced numerous rare mounts in subsequent raid tiers, fans still revere timeless classics like Invincible. In the game's lore, Invincible is the horse of Arthas Menethil, one of the most iconic antagonists in World of Warcraft. This connection makes Invincible a highly sought-after mount, especially for veteran players who remember playing through The Frozen Throne in 2003.
As the release date of the upcoming expansion, The War Within, approaches, World of Warcraft players are gearing up for a new chapter in Azeroth. With the conclusion of Dragonflight, Blizzard is preparing to launch the Worldsoul Saga, a trilogy of expansions that will tie up major storylines introduced throughout the game's history. The first raid in The War Within will see players facing off against the Nerubians, a faction that has remained dormant since Wrath of the Lich King.
