Discover the Overlooked Shortcut on Overwatch 2's Blizzard World Map for Faster Capture Point Access
A recent Overwatch 2 video showcases how many players are unaware of a shortcut to reach the initial capture point on the Blizzard World map. Despite being released several years ago in the original Overwatch as a celebration of all Blizzard games, many Overwatch 2 players still seem to take the longer route.

Overwatch 2 launched with an expanded hero roster, cosmetic items, and many original maps from the first game. While some maps have been updated with layout and aesthetic changes and introduced over time, others like Route 66, Eichenwalde, and Dorado were available from the start. Players can also access certain maps through Arcade mode that may not appear in the standard or competitive rotations. Blizzard World was initially missing from these rotations at the launch of Overwatch 2. However, one player created a video to show how many players overlook a crucial shortcut to the capture point on Blizzard World.
Reddit user PuzzleheadedTry6507 recently shared a clip from their experience on the Blizzard World map in Overwatch 2. In the clip, the player, as Kiriko, approaches a doorway leading to the initial objective, while three teammates take the longer route. Although many players follow the path of the payload track, this shortcut allows for a faster defense of the point. By taking this path, they reach the capture point before their teammates by going under the Alliance-themed gate. After switching to Junker Queen, the player attempts to guide an allied Mercy through the shortcut, but Mercy opts for the longer route.
Players May Miss This Blizzard World Shortcut
Despite using Overwatch 2’s ping system to guide their team, PuzzleheadedTry6507's directions are ignored. Blizzard World features numerous small doorways, like the one in this shortcut, which can lead to inactive spawn rooms or nowhere useful. Due to the map’s chaotic layout, players often stick to well-known routes, as the video highlights. Defending players need to reach this capture point quickly after being killed in battle, and this shortcut could help them return faster.
Since some players are unaware of this Blizzard World shortcut, developers could consider adding a symbol above the door to make it more noticeable. Posts like this also help increase awareness. As Blizzard continues to update Overwatch 2, future maps might have similar hidden shortcuts, so exploring maps thoroughly is beneficial.
