An Elden Ring player encountered a hilarious glitch that causes the Tarnished's face to become warped. Interestingly, the player can reproduce this issue in Elden Ring by performing a specific combat move.

FromSoftware's Elden Ring is one of the most significant games released in recent years. Not only has the action-RPG sold tens of millions of copies, but it also dominated award shows, notably securing the Game of the Year title in 2022. As a result, countless players continue to explore Hidetaka Miyazaki's richly crafted world of the Lands Between, immersing themselves in its adventure. However, spending so much time in the game can sometimes lead players to stumble upon glitches, which can be both amusing and frustrating.

On Reddit, user XenoVerity posted a video showcasing their Elden Ring protagonist, the Tarnished, with a hilariously contorted face after executing a specific attack move. The clip shows the player repeating the move multiple times, each time resulting in the Tarnished's face twisting into the same goofy expression. The attack animation involves the Tarnished jumping into the air, slamming down into the ground in a ball of flames, and then standing up with a glitched face that only lasts for a split second.

While glitches in character animations can be annoying, the very brief duration of this particular issue doesn't significantly disrupt gameplay immersion. Given the third-person perspective of the game, the Tarnished's back is usually turned toward the player during the move that triggers the goofy face glitch, making it less noticeable. Despite the minor impact of the glitch, the Elden Ring community on Reddit found it amusing. Several users joked that the Tarnished's scrunched-up face looked like someone who had just licked a sour lemon. Another commenter quipped, "That's the concentration face for that move."

Since the release of Elden Ring, FromSoftware has continued to deliver content, launching a highly-praised expansion called Shadow of the Erdtree earlier this year.
