The announcement comes right from Bethesda Game Studios X social media. The developers have unveiled a new Developer Deep Dive, which reveals Starfield’s new update titled Free Lanes is coming on April 7—including the version for PlayStation 5. The studio also revealed more information on the upcoming DLC, Terran Armada, as you can check out their statement below:

“Get ready for Starfield’s biggest update yet, Free Lanes, coming April 7 to all platforms — including PS5.

Learn more about Free Lanes and the next story DLC, Terran Armada, in today's Developer Deep Dive.”

Just like it was leaked at the beginning of the month, Starfield will release for PlayStation 5 on April 17 with a price tag of $49.99 for the Standard Edition and $69.99 for Premium. By the way, if you purchase the Premium Edition, you’ll get a Terran Armada DLC without further payment. At the same time, the Free Lanes update will be free for all users, and, according to Bethesda, “it will change the experience of Starfield”—sounds like it’s the same Starfield v.2.0 update that was heavily rumored to be in development. More of the details summed up by gaming insider shinobi602 you can check out below:

  • Added ability to freely fly between planets;
  • Cruise Mode: Decorate your ship, chat with companions etc while traveling, change destination on the fly;
  • New space encounters and side quests;
  • X-Tech: New resource to upgrade weapons, gear etc even further;
  • New legendary rank for weapons, Helmets, Packs and Suits;
  • Asteroid base home: You can now purchase a "very ritzy" asteroid base to call home;
